taking an in-depth look at some of my favorite projects, how i made them, and if i would do anything differently now.

the goal of this project was to create a poster, three google ads, a 2-page print editorial, 3-page (+ cover) ipad editorial, and creative brief case study centered around an olympic sport being televised at the 2024 paris summer olympics.

i swam competitively for many years and coached a swim team at my hometown pool, so i naturally gravitated towards swimming for my sport selection. i wanted to challenge myself to make highly detailed, textured graphics, and i'm very pleased with the result. i also wanted to showcase the elegance and power of swimmers, as many of the photos of these athletes aren't the most flattering due to surface tension or odd facial expressions.

looking back on this project, i wish i used one of the graphics in the print editorial to make it more cohesive with the rest of the materials. i also wish the cover image for the ipad editorial was a little sharper, but i sacrificed image quality for the overall visual effect. overall, i'm very pleased with how this project turned out, and it's one of my favorites.

water@uw flow project

everything has a beginning, and emergence was inspired by the different beginnings of wisconsin’s springs. all springs originate from rainwater, trickling through layers of bedrock or sandstone, but each spring presents itself differently. in wisconsin, springs emerge through structures, caves, rock fissures, or sandy-bottomed bodies of water. eventually, water from these springs evaporates and returns as rainfall again, continuing the cycle of emergence. while creating this piece, i sifted through several images of wisconsin’s springs and selected the ones that i felt best encapsulated their movement and beauty. in this piece, i hope viewers are able to feel the movement of the water as it emerges through these springs.

this piece is based on research from sue swanson, wisconsin's state geologist. reference images are sourced from the wisconsin geological and natural history survey's spring data.

this was the first assignment i was given for my introductory graphic design course. the goal was to create a social media campaign focused on a topic of our choice. animal conservation is something that i'm passionate about, so i decided to go in the direction of shark conservation - specifically when it comes to shark finning.

this was my first time creating a graphic-based social media campaign, and overall i think it went well for me. i really tried to emphasize the severity of the issue without having too graphic or gruesome images, and i think i achieved that. i also am pleased with the overall balance of color, as well as the amount of images vs graphics. looking back, i wish i refined my color palette a little bit (we were restricted to five colors) to have a more cohesive look.
